BLOC Gallery is pleased to present Sorceress Stories, a group exhibition by Texas-based artists Alice Gunn and Beryl Rivkah. Opening as the season shifts into autumn, Sorceress Stories invites viewers into a world of transformation, mystery, and ancestral wisdom. This duo exhibition showcases the archetypal Sorceress through multiple forms and incarnations, exploring her timeless presence as an outsider, healer, and keeper of hidden knowledge.
Through two intertwining collections of paintings, Alice Gunn and Beryl Rivkah explore the limitations of the Sorceress’s transformations, the cosmic intelligences that shape her, and the ways her body holds and expresses this knowledge. Rooted in themes of intuition, power, and metamorphosis, the exhibition evokes the spirit of the season - a time of reflection, change, and connection to the unseen.

A Solo Exhibition
Brooke Walzel
Opening Reception: October 10
Show Dates: October 10 - November 20, 2026
BLOC Gallery is pleased to present Where Light Touches Memory, a solo exhibition by Houston-based multidisciplinary artist Brooke Walzel. Working across painting, printmaking, and sculpture, her practice explores memory, impermanence, and the passage of time through layered self portraits, cyanotypes, and sculptural forms.
Combining painted imagery with organic elements gathered in real time, Brooke creates works that allow memory and the present to coexist. Rooted in her background in darkroom photography, her cyanotypes preserve fleeting moments through light sensitive processes, while quilt-like sewn compositions blur the boundaries between photography, painting, and textile traditions. Where Light Touches Memory invites viewers into a contemplative space where recollection and imagination converge.

Charlie King
Opening Reception: December 5
Show Dates: December 5, 2026 - January 30, 2027
BLOC Gallery is pleased to present Inpatient no. 01, a solo exhibition by Houston-based visual artist Charlie King. A recent MFA graduate from the University of Houston, Charlie's multidisciplinary practice explores identity, mental illness, and disability through photography, sculpture, printmaking, textiles, and installation.
Centered on a nine day hospitalization, Inpatient no. 01 brings together thesis work and selected graduate pieces that examine memory, perception, resilience, and the process of navigating life after hospitalization. Through collaged canvases, immersive installation, paper-based works, and an interactive reading space, Charlie transforms personal experience into a shared reflection on identity, healing, and the importance of feeling seen.
